y'all. it's been a long time. more than a year and a half.
i miss you, i do! but i've been busy and i'll tell you why.

after a two and half year struggle with infertility,
john and i (and woodford!) welcomed a sweet, precious baby boy.
this is august russell wurtenberger.
we call him "gus"

i've secretly been blogging about our infertility, IVF/ICSI journey over at wurt the wait. i plan on picking up the pieces and getting back on board in the blogging world because i definitely miss everything that comes along it.

i sure do hope you'll join me over at my new spot because it's been a long time coming!

golden birthday

i've written this post in my head a thousand times but i still can't really find the words to write. today is my birthday, actually it's my golden birthday, so i figured today was a good day to address this neglected blog.

this blog has been so much more than anyone could imagine. between the friends i've made, the adventures i've shared and the growing up i've done, i am beyond proud of how incredible blogs can be.

in all honesty, i've been completely torn of where to take this little place in the internet space of mine for awhile now. being 28 years old now, i'm just not the same 22 year old kentucky blonde girl that started this and as i've grown, kentucky blonde has grown.

the last couple years have been unforgettable and a wild ride. but now i'm at a place between posting pictures of our new home and our journey through infertility. i want to keep things real around here but quite frankly, it ain't gonna happen.

for now, i'm going to take a step back and focus on our humble abode and filling it up.

as a shameless plug, er, i mean to see pictures of woodford, follow on insta @jwurtenberger

cheers, peace out homes.

{all photos are mine}

it's friiiday it's friiiidayy

it seems as if i've become a "friday blogger" while my life goes on without me. so here are the five top things to play catch up in my life.
1. john and i are officially homeowners (and have been for a month now) and will move into our new home around may 10!
we are oh, so, excited but so sad to watch our dear friends move away.
some background -- since brian and claire (who we bought our house from and love dearly) are moving for the military so they've been "renting" from us until his new orders begin. john is a pretty fierce landlord, considering he required a $1 security deposit. :)
after closing, you'd think john and i would go out to celebrate but nope, claire and i took the honors upon ourselves.
we now refer to this house as the quinntenberger household.

two. atlanta. and kentucky basketball.
the whole family ventured to atlanta to watch our beloved kentucky wildcats fight for the SEC tournament victory. we ended up losing in the finals to florida ... and then we then ended up losing to UCONN in the finals of the national championship. so close, yet so far.

the fam.

three. jackson hole, wyoming.
john, his two brothers, his dad, and moi went to jackson hole for a long weekend to get our skiing in before the season ended and let.me.tell.you. if your soul needs some refreshing, book your ticket now because those open skies and mountain air will shake you up and bring peace to your worries!

we suited up in our best Armageddon gear and went snowmobiling through yellowstone. i thought it would be a cool thing to do and we'd see some neat things. by the end of it, i was 100% convinced that riding through yellowstone on an awesome snowmobile should be on every person's bucket list. honestly, it's life changing.

if you can't tell by my raving, i was obviously in need of a vacation and this did the trick. and i'd just like to make it a known fact that i had my own snowmobile and i wouldn't didn't ride with john.

if you look SUPER SUPER SUPER closely, you can see two moose (meese? ugh, i hate that) roaming through the waters.

real life?

pure beauty.

four. the puppy.
no matter how much i love to travel, i always love coming home to this beast and snuggling with him for days. he usually drives the car runs the show and i wouldn't have it any other way.

five. office space
thunder over louisville (aka the nations largest fireworks show) is the kick off to derby festivities, which happens tomorrow. along with the fireworks, there is an out-of-this-world air show with fighter jets and other loud airplane that i am lucky enough to view form my office. that's my view.

so, my friends. that's a wrap. i hope you have a wonderful weekend and soak up the nice weather (finally!) after this dreadful winter. what are your plans?

five future finds for friday

today is the last friday of being mortgage-less. needless to say, we've thoroughly enjoyed the last six-ish months of basking in the additional moolah in our bank accounts. while it may not be a fortune, it's enough to make me do a happy dance. but come monday, we'll be writing a check i don't like to think about and the payments will begin.

but, today, i'm discussing the top five parts i'm most excited about in our next chapter in this journey we call life.

one. furnishing this sucker. when we sold our old home, i was ready for out with the old, in with the new. apparently i was not joking. i ended up tossing our dining room table, chairs, sofas, chairs, ottomans, beds, tables and lamps. it's a little overwhelming to think about all the furniture that will need to fill this space, but i'd by lying if i said i didn't fall asleep every night going room by room and dreaming of what it will look like.

{definitely not a room of mine, but finding inspiration is part of the process}

two. it's no secret i hope to fill this house with lots and lots of babies. our plan isn't going as planned, but i know His plan and i know john was born to be a father. so here's to our ongoing battle and praying that this family home will be a home to more than john, woodford, and moi.
{because it's normal to use your nephews to pose as an actual family of four, right?}

three. laundry. yes, mom, did you read that?? i am so excited to have a laundry room right outside of our bedroom. you best believe this room is going to be decked out with nothing but luxurious things only a woman could appreciate.
four. a photo studio. one of my millions few ideas for the new house is to build my very own photo studio and make a whole craft room to let out my built up energy and crazy ideas that have a tendency to creep their way into my head!

five. being an adult in an adult home with my adult husband and my sweet baby boy puppy. we're really doing it, harry!

happy happy weekend! come this time monday, we'll be homeowners once again. xo

fridays five

happy friday happy dance! i've been looking forward to this day since monday and nope, it's not because i have something spectacular planned, it's actually the exact opposite. i'm a victim of a CPA's "busy season" since my husband is always MIA in january and half of february drowning in audits. therefore, i'm exceptionally excited to see him before midnight tonight and remember what it feels like to be married. here are my cinco on friday.

one. don't forget to enter the yellow fish paperie giveaway! HERE

two. super bowl is on sunday and i'm a total football slacker this year considering i still have yet to purchase even one cube of cream cheese. hopefully i won't be as big of a loser as the broncos by monday morning when i show up to the super bowl party emptyhanded. ...see what i did there? i pretended like i care about this game and started talkin' smack about the broncos when in all honestly, i have zero opinion. the only reason i'm going to cheer for the seahawks is because i don't like eric deckers wifes lip liner. and thats the honest truth.

three. my heart and soul is a total beast. and you should know that by now.

four. PLEASE HELP ME WITH FURNITURE SHOPPING FOR OUR NEW HOME. we gave away lit.er.al.ly every!thing! when we sold our last home because i was bound and determined to have all "adult furnishings" in our next home. but now i'm stuck with trying to find a starting place of how to furnish a home more than twice the size of our previous home. any secret websites or stores i should know about?? think restoration hardware -- champagne taste on a beer budget type thing.

five. want a sneak peek of our new house? your wish is my command. :)

enjoy. happy happpy weekend!

i'd by lying if i said purchasing a new return address stamp wasn't one of my first three thoughts after hearing the words "accepted offer" to our new abode. i'd even by lying if i said i didn't already have my dream stamp picked out long before i had the house picked out.

i perused etsy for all of one minute before my eyes landed on the beauty known as yellow fish paperie and the gorgeous work of the shoppes owner, amy.

the dream for concocting this masterpiece was easier than i imagined and i couldn't be happier to present our new return address stamp!! wah-lah!
just a snippit! bloggers be stalkers, sometimes.

and now, since amy and jayme are the best, we're going to give YOU a chance to win your own stamp of your choice. amy will send you a proof to approve and then ship the stamp when it is finished. to get the juices flowin', here are some lovelies from the shoppe.

this is the design i chose for ours.

enter away, my beauties! a Rafflecopter giveaway

dreams come true

two months before john and i were married, i woke up and immediately shared with john that i was in the midst of a wild dream that we had boy/girl twins named claire and quinn. the dream was so lifelike, i just knew i had to share the details with him while they were so fresh.

fast forward two months and two days ... john and i were on day 3 of marriage and day 1 of our honeymoon. we had just arrived to the paradise we would call home for the next seven days. we hopped on the elevator and since i've never met a stranger in my life, i ever-so-sorority-girl-ish (by the way, i was never a sorority girl) said, "hi! where are YOU from?" in my closest Buddy The Elf "hi! what's your favorite color?!" impression. long story short ... our new friends were actually from louisville and lived about a half mile from john's dad! small world!

but you will never, ever believe what happened next. brace yourself because i promise this isn't made up ... their names: brian and claire quinn. exxxxcuuuuse me! CLAIRE. QUINN. i squealed, "ARE YOU MY BOY/GIRL TWINS WRAPPED INTO ONE ADULT PERSON?!"

the fact they didn't get scared away at my nonsense it a true testament to the friendship we've been so lucky to cherish for the last year and three months. we stayed great friends once we returned home from paradise to face reality and i was so impressed with this couple that they were just as awesome in small town, boring ol' louisville as they were four tequilas down poolside of the exclusive excellence club.

which brings me to my next point... God is wild and seriously so incredibly fascinating. One year and five months ago, he put this wild dream in my head and then placed us in the same elevator in Mexico with this couple. in the past eight days, brian accepted a new position with his job which means they're relocating.

yesterday, john and i officially bought their home.
