this weekend will be spent reminding myself to enjoy every second!  while i love being in school, i can't help but slightly complain about my 40 hour full time job PLUS 15 hours this semester for grad school.  so please, just let me bitch complain just a touch to make myself feel better and then it'll all be over... eventually!

at least saturday night will be spent with my family and the rest of the weekend outside of school will be spent with my lovah.

what do you have planned for your weeks end?!

i hope you have an absolutely wonderful weekend!

ps *attention any doctors or medical persons - i have been running more lately and my collarbone has been killing me!  any ideas as to why??

do you have any must have recipes for game day?!
what are your plans for the big game?!

so so fast

seriously!  how incredibly fast can the weekends fly by!?  i feel like i blinked and i was already back at work on this monday morning!  throw me a freakin bone!

friday night, john and i went to dinner with curt and cat, the lovely couple who is gettin hitched in april in seabrook, south carolina!  we went to sushi and it.was.delish!

saturday, i worked in the morning, then went and got my nails done and went to lunch with my mama, a much needed girls day out!  then i worked out (ahh) and then got the house ready for people to come over to watch the kentucky game. go cats!
i had already had quite a touch to drink before i remembered to take pictures of all the amazing food so my apologies for these photos... we had soo much food though... skyline chili dip, buffalo chicken dip, mexican wraps, cheese and sausage, crackers, veggie trays.  you woulda thunk we had a whole an entire village over!  but really it was just me, john, cat, curt, alex, michael, kelly, kellen, cassie, pat, and kaitlin!

me, cat, alex.  apparently you're only cool if you wear blue stripes.  unplanned but we're all awesome.

my johnny and i.
i'm a lucky gal.

sunday, i spent the day lounging around watching movies and then i went to meet with my school group for a presentation we have to put together. not going to lie, i'm so ready to be finished already!  :)

what did you do this weekend and do you feel like it just flew by!?

my lovely finds

to say perusing the internet occasionally for future home goods and decor is an understatement.  i love spending the day dreaming of how i would decorate each corner table of my house, each shelf in the kitchen with exposed cabinets, and switching out my bedding on a weekly basis with new covers, colors, textures, and designs.

today, let's play a game called "design my living room"...

first i'd start with this lovely JAR designs kingston sofa.  ain't she a beaut?  i love the studs and the depth of the couch.  cuddle room during a movie? yes please. and those pillows! oh those pillows!

then i'd add this hand-tufted world classic bluish-grey wool rug. be still my heart. i've been on a rather big rug kick lately and i can't seem to get enough of the browsing of designs.  i really enjoy yellow in most rugs but there's something about this one that makes the room feel calm and relaxing.

now, while i'm relaxing on my new sofa and feeling calm on my new rug, i'd clearly need something to rest my feet on while i watch the real housewives of beverly hills (which we'll discuss in a few..) ...so i would add this pyramid espresso trunk cocktail table.  i've been loving trunks lately as opposed to a regular ole coffee table. there's something about the useful storage, the bold statement, and the beautiful look of a trunk.

to add a little somethin' somethin' to the walls, i'd mix in this lovely mirror by venetian eleina. it's larger than it appears in this picture and would fit perfectly on my soft shade walls.

i'm very excited to say that i received a discount code for 10% off Overstock products (excluding movies, books, and electronics)... but best of all, i get to share this with all of my lovely readers!

the discount code is: 121745

the code never expires, however, it can only be used once per email address...

also, 202234 is a free shipping promo code for electronics!

don't forget that it's always $2.95 shipping on your entire order!

..all the ideas and opinions expressed are my own. no monetary compensation was received for doing this post, however, i was provided with a discount code..

what i'm loving wednesday

for the first time ever, i've decided to particpiate in jamie at this kind of love "what i'm loving wednesday" and i couldn't be more excited!  even though my timing and days are all off right now, it's still a great time to reflect on everything i'm loving and thankful for during the week, right when things get crazy!

i'm loving this recipe from natasha that i made last night for dinner.  john and i loved it!  i'm counting down the minutes until i can go to lunch and it eat again! i hope y'all take advantage of this recipe and make it!

Chicken and Dumplings

1 (32-oz.) container low-sodium chicken broth
1 (14-oz.) can low-sodium chicken broth
3 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 1 1/2 lb.)
1 (10 3/4-oz.) can reduced-fat cream of chicken soup
1 (10 3/4-oz.) can reduced fat cream of celery soup
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 (10.2-oz.) can refrigerated jumbo buttermilk biscuits
Salt and pepper

1. Bring first 6 ingredients to a boil in a dutch oven over medium-high heat. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high; return to a low boil.
2. Place biscuits on a lightly floured surface. Roll or pat each biscuit to 1/8-inch thickness; cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips.
3. Drop strips, 1 at a time, into boiling broth mixture. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent dumplings from sticking.  ENJOY!!

i'm loving that my lovely sister started her own blog!  go check it out!

i'm loving this short week! having monday off was wonderful and it's making this week even better! any day off work i can have, i'll take!!

i'm loving pistachios today and yesterday!  they've been keepin me alive here at work... and my coworkers too! i love 'em.

i'm loving this guy! even though he's working crazy long hours, he still makes time for this girl and makes me feel special. i'm a lucky gal!

i'm loving that i'm keeping up with my new years resolution of drinking more water!  somedays i feel like i may drown after all the bottles i've had!

i'm loving all my blogger friends and the fact that y'all make my days that much better!

introducing the name

i spent my day off work (and school) doing arts and crafts with my lovely pregnant sister and my lovely nonpregnant mother.  we hit up hobby lobby and decided to make something special for my nephew, who is due in april and words just cannot express how excited i am.
you may recall that sometimes, i attempt to be crafty but i'm in fact not. you can see those posts here, with the furniture edition, and here, with the christmas tree edition.  oopsies.
however, i'm very glad to say that this experiment came out as a great success!
dexter wanted to get in the picture but here's the beginning of the crafty day.  boring, colorless, and dull.
here's another shot. i'm practicing on my canon rebel. kthanxbye. and dexter is peepin again...
and just because he's beautiful, there's reggie.  he was there too, but he kept his distance from the crafts.

spray painting.  which i may add was the only real epic fail of the day.  we ended up not really liking the color so we painting over it.  but it was a simple, quick fix so i would hardly call that a fail.  usually, when i have an epic fail, it's unfixable.  welcome to my life.

hint: those are his initials.  except it's C.A.B., not abc.

jessie hard at work making the tape ready for the stripes on the letters.  are you getting antsy to find out the name already?!

ps, the bedding for the precious boy is from serena and lily and its the dylan set. you can see it here, because i know you're interested.   ;)

i'm so excited to meet this little guy in april.  i'll show you the finished product when the room gets painted and the name is actually hanging up, i promise.  :)

do you like the finished product for his nursery!? compliments make me feel a lot better, doy.

whoop whoop

well well well!  lookie what i got! :)
my girl over at simplymedb gave me this stylish blogger award and i'm pretty darn excited bout it! if you don't follow her, you're missin out because she's lovely!

so here are the rules - 1. link to the blogger who gave you the award.  2. share 7 facts about yourself.  3. pass the award on to 15 ladies.

1. i've been a crazy happy iphone owner since the very first one came out (what was that, like 2007? 08? whatever) but occasionally i sometimes miss my blackberry pearl for the simple fact of no more brickbreaker.  my high school is 30,000 and i'm still real proud of that.

2. i'm going to be an aunt in april to a precious little boy and i've never been so happy about something in my entire life.

3. pet peeve- i can't stand loud gum chrewer, people the burp on the regular and don't see a problem with it, people that floss in public, and people that sing quitely but just loud enough to make it awkward and annoy the holytoledo's outta me.  phew, i had to get that off my chest. i'm surrounded by all of the above at this moment.  :)

4. even numbers.  my volume on the tv and or radio must always be on an even number. when i set my alarm, it is always on an even number but never ever on a multiple of 10.  like 7:36, or 7:42.  weird, yup.

5. when i was little, like 10 months old, my mom taught me how to go down the stairs on my belly so i wouldn't fall down them.  i recently saw a home video of it and it's the funniest thing in the world.  i'll try to see if i can get that sucker uploaded onto here for ya.  in the video, i fly down the stairs on my belly at the speed of light and you can even see my little wedgy of my onesie through my diaper. hilarious.

6. i'm in love with my best friend and it's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in my life!

7. i love the rising sun sushi roll because it's wrapped in cucumber instead of rice and sometimes it's a nice break from the regular rolls. and i've recently also started really enjoying spicy rolls.

so i know that i'm supposed to pass it on to 15 ladies but honestly, i could never decide (i guess that could be #8 because i'm so incredibly indecisive) on which 15 should get it.  i think every.single.one. of y'all is real stylin and deserves this award!

and i know i already said it in the post below but i hope you have a great weekend!

happy friday

while i am spending most of my weekend at school,
(a total of 18 hours...ugh)
i am forever thankful that it's not at work!  :)
the weeks end is finally here and it's time to celebrate.
i hope y'all have a wonderful, relaxing, eventful, and perfect weekend!
what are your plans?

sharing stories

so i've been reading a lot of awesome articles lately that i haven't seen around the blog world yet so i thought i'd share two of the most touching...

this family was on oprah on tuesday and they have experienced the worst tragedy and the best miracle all within one year.

this one is special because i know a lot of bloggers out there have experienced the same thing as these three families, stillborn babies and miscarriages. on top of that sensitive subject, the families are all sec coaches which also hits home.

i know they aren't the most cheerful articles, but they're real and they're inspiring and touching.  and on top of that, they make me realize and give thanks for my incredible blessings.

have you read these articles yet? what do you think?

back to school

i got my lunch packed up!  my boots tied tight! i hope i don't get in a fight! ohhh back to school! back to school!  -billy madison

well kids, it's here!  last night was my first night of my almost last semester of graduate school! getting my mba has never seemed so close, yet so far but i'm glad that there's finally an end somewhat in sight!  between my full time job and only wanting to spend all my time with a certain someone, my motivation for school (& 12 hours this semester!) just is not exactly where it should be at this point.  however, i'm going to get myself in gear and kick some major school ass!  in true kentuckyblonde fashion, i'm going to keep the quotes comin while i struggle to find the balance of my ever-so-busy life!

{quotes unkonwn sources but if you see yours on there, let me know so i can give you the credit! ...except one is from postsecret.com}

are there any quotes that keep you goin when the goin gets tough?
keep on keepin on!

let the wedding festivities begin!

2011 is definitely the wedding year for a gazillion of my friends. the past weekend was the kick off to the showers, celebrations, and parties we have in order to welcome the many weddings we have this year!  this weekend, we had a wedding shower for curt and cat, who will be tying the knot in april in south carolina.
this picture was too fun not to include.  one my favorite parts of these showers is going to some amazing houses of the hosts. the owners of saturday nights party was an incredible house.  i tried to sneak pictures of their master bath because it was SO breathtakingly beautiful that i really wanted to show you guys but i just couldn't bring myself to snap the picture.. i'll work on that.  well, in the corner of their cabin-esque basement, they have the evolution of the telephone.  the reverse side of the wall is a pay phone and then every cell phone you could ever imagine.  it was pretty interesting and random, but i liked the thought.

ps, get ready for pictures galore!

this hot picture of david and beau was included to show you some of the house... it was an open floor plan with the neatest details you could imagine.  obsessed, why yes, i am.

lizzie and my dad.
john, me, alex, and michael. remember, they're gettin hitched in june.

david and alex. yayy

that's lizzie.  and me too.

alex, me, lizzie.  we are three of the bridesmaids.

and the bride.  this is cat.  we didn't mean to match but great minds think alike.  ain't she pretty?

fellow a-towners.  cat and i were each others first friends when we were like a day old.  then cat and ben were second friends, and then beau and i were second friends. alotta history there, folks.

love this one.  from the left, jamie and maggie are the brides sisters, then cat, me, cats mom mary jane, lauren, my mama, and then alex and lizzie in the front.  we've all known each other since before kindergarten.  impressive, eh?

alex and moi.

the bride and her sisters.  just keep lookin at the house too.  don't forget...

AND THE COUPLE.  see? aren't they so perfect together.  :)  i just love this picture too much to not include!  curt and cat.

alex and moi.  once again. so awesome.

cat with three of her bridesmaids.

my pops.

my john.  plus i thought you'd be interested in my outfit. ;)   isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen? i know, i know.

sorry about all the pictures but i'm too indecisive to leave any out!  i had a wonderful time and i'm so happy to be a part of all these weddings this year!  my life has never been better and all these celebrations definitely make it easy to be so thankful!

rest of the weekend: friday night, i made an amazing dinner, if you're into salmon, let me know because i have an AMAZING recipe! then on saturday, we went to a charity bowling event where i sucked so bad that i don't think i'll ever go bowling again.  whoops.  and then on sunday, we went to church and then finally put up the christmas tree and began installing the lighting in the basement, which i'll include pictures as we keep redoing things!

i hope you all had a great weekend!  what'd you do?
